Danigala: The Alien Mountain

Danigala, popularly known as the Alien Mountain, is one of Sri Lanka’s most intriguing and spiritually significant landscapes. Rising sharply above the forests near Kandegama in the Polonnaruwa district, its distinct flat-topped formation, ancient caves, early Brahmi inscriptions, and untouched wilderness create an atmosphere rich in history and legend. For generations, this sacred site has inspired stories of ancient civilizations, monastic retreat, cosmic energy, and unexplained phenomena.
